A mural that brings more than color to our neighborhood.
by Cindy Torres
There’s something magical about seeing a blank wall transformed into a vibrant work of art, but when that transformation also helps a neighbor achieve a personal milestone, the magic feels even greater. This is exactly what happened here at the Mapleton Mobile Home Park, thanks to a neighborhood arts grant from the City of Boulder.
My neighbor Robin, an incredibly talented artist and long-time resident of our park, is working on a stunning mural on the outer fence of our community. The project was made possible by funding from Boulder’s neighborhood arts program, which not only covered the cost of supplies but also provided Robin with a little extra cash — just enough to help him transition from renting in our park to owning his own trailer.
Robin’s artistic talents have long been a gift to those of us who know him, but now his work is a gift to everyone who passes by our community. His mural, full of rich colors and vivid imagery, reflects the spirit of Mapleton — a community full of resilience, creativity, and heart. Beyond the art itself, this project symbolizes how investing in local artists can foster both personal growth and community pride.
Robin is more than just an amazing artist; he’s a fantastic neighbor. He’s always quick with a smile or to lend a helping hand, and his love for this community shines through in his work. Seeing him reach the milestone of homeownership through his art has been inspiring for all of us.
I am deeply grateful to the City of Boulder and their arts programs for making projects like this possible. These grants do more than beautify neighborhoods — they empower individuals and strengthen community bonds. And to our little park, Robin’s mural is not just paint on a fence; it’s a reminder of what can happen when talent, opportunity, and community support come together.
Next time you’re near Mapleton Mobile Home Park, take a moment to enjoy Robin’s work. It’s a testament to the power of local art and the incredible people who call this neighborhood home.

“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
